Successful Debut of Electric Racing in Hong Kong – Paving the Path for Future Events
The first-ever Formula E HKT Hong Kong ePrix and e-Touring Car Challenge had been successfully held in Hong Kong Central Harbourfront on 8th and 9th October. The success would not have been possible without the tremendous support of Mr Lawrence Yu Kam-kee, President of Hong Kong Automobile Association and Mr. Alan Fang, CEO of Formula Electric Racing (Hong Kong) Limited (FERHK) Special thanks must go to Mr Gregory So Kam-leung, Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development, who joined the event personally as the award presenter, and various departments of the HKSAR government for their support which made the first racing event in Hong Kong possible.

Kenneth Ma, founder of Formula Racing Development said, “Not only is this the first time that Hong Kong stages a Formula E event, we are also staging the e-Touring Car Challenge, which is the first-ever motorsport racing with electric compact car in the world. This makes Hong Kong the first city to have two race days in Formula E Series. Celebrities and professional drivers made their debut appearance with over 20,000 audiences and support from sponsors, bringing along a miracle and realizing a long awaited dream for the residents and visitors of Hong Kong. As soon as we are appointed to host a supporting race within Formula E, we promptly got in touch with different parties for staging this event. I would especially like to extend my sincere gratitude to the government of HKSAR for its tremendous support and hopefully we can continue the momentum and stage more racing events for Hong Kong in the future.”

Motorsport racing in Hong Kong is no longer a dream, and FRD will continue to work with different parties, including FERHK to develop and promote different kinds of motorsport events so as to realise our vision to turn this city into a “City of Motosports”.
